    Common Questions

    These are the most common interview questions asked by HR in any interview in order to gain a really high level understanding about you and where you could fit.

  1. Can you tell something about yourself?
  2. What do you know about our company?
  3. Why do you want to work in our company?
  4. What are your strengths?
  5. What are your weaknesses?
  6. Why can you contribute to our company?
  7. Why do you want to leave your current job?
  8. How do you handle stress/pressure?
  9. Why should the company hire you?
  10. Where do you see yourself in five or ten years from now?
  11. General Questions

    These are questions which were very general and did not really target a specific category below.

  12. What is your experience in this field?
  13. Do you know anyone who works for us?
  14. Have you ever been fired from a job?
  15. How do you get along with co-workers?
  16. Have you applied for any other jobs?
  17. How do you know you are successful in your job?
  18. What is a work achievement you are proud of?
  19. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
  20. Are there any disadvantages for you in moving to this company?
  21. Personal Development

    These questions focus on finding out about what you personally do in order to advance yourself professionally or educationally. It shows your determination and willingness to continuously improve. (Remember, know it all’s are not admired, bu one who has a passion and drive to excel is.)

  22. What have you done to learn more about your field recently?
  23. What do you do to keep learning and developing your skills in this area?
  24. Can you give an example of something you have learned on your own that has helped you in your professional life?
  25. How have your skills in the job improved?
  26. How does working with this company fit with your career goals?
  27. How can your skills add value to this company?
  28. How do you measure or evaluate the quality of your work?
  29. What have you done to improve your qualifications in your field?
  30. Feedback

    These questions are aimed to figure out what you believe you appear to be like in others eyes. It extracts information from you to see what you believe you are to others.

  31. What positive things would your co-workers say about you?
  32. What negative things would your co-workers say about you?
  33. Team Effort

    This questions figures out what your personally strategy was at the time to help others as well as work with them in order to reach a common goal. (Remember team effort, working together is a plus in your answer, but doing the same work then merging is not a desired answer.)

  34. How you helped your team or a team member to achieve a specific goal?
  35. Flexibility

    These questions measure to see what your limit is when the ground under you starts to shake. They are intended to see what your reaction was to unexpected or unplanned situations.

  36. Describe a major change that happened in a previous job. How did you deal with this situation?
  37. Tell me about a situation in which you had to adapt to changes that you had no control over.
  38. Can you tell me about a time in which you had to adapt to a difficult situation?
  39. Have you ever worked in a situation in which the goals or priorities changed quickly?   How did you handle this?
  40. What were some challenges you faced on your last job? How did you handle these challenges?
  41. Initiative

    These questions are intended to find out what ideas or solutions you have brought to the organizations in the past and what if any logical steps you took in order to achieve the goal to the solution or goal.

  42. Tell us about a suggestion you made that led to improvements in your company.
  43. Can  you tell me about the last time you took initiative at work? What did you do?
  44. Can you describe a time when you had to stand up for your beliefs at work and met resistance from managers or coworkers?
  45. Can you describe a project or idea that you initiated at work?
  46. How do you go beyond the requirements of the job?
  47. Can you give me two examples of something you have done in a previous job that shows you are a hard-worker?
  48. What do you do to stay current with changes in the industry?
  49. Tell me about a project you started on your own recently.
  50. What is the best idea you have ever come up with at work?
  51. Have you ever been in a situation in which you demonstrated too much initiative?
  52. Time Management

    These questions are aimed to see how you will or have reacted to a tight deadline, or in a time intensive scenario.

  53. Describe a situation in which you were able to meet a tight deadline on time.  How did you prioritize your tasks and schedule?
  54. Can you describe a goal that you have achieved? What steps did you take?
  55. How do you deal with risk? Can you describe a work situation in which you had to deal with a high level of risk?
  56. Can you tell me about a time when you were able to complete a task or project successfully without supervision or support?
  57. Tell me about your typical work day.  How many hours do you spend on the job?
  58. Can you describe a time in which you did more than you had to in order to complete a job successfully?
  59. How did your work efforts effect your company?
  60. How do you feel about competition?  Can you describe a situation at work in  which you had to deal with competition?
  61. How do you manage your time when you have a lot of work?  How do you make sure you get everything done effectively?
  62. Tell me about a time when you had to develop a process or procedure for your workplace.
  63. Problem Solving & Attention To Detail

    These questions are aimed to see what your reaction was to previous problems you had faced in previous roles. The main thing which is measure here is how you addressed to problem and to what extend of detail.

  64. What were some challenges you faced on your last job?  How did you handle these challenges?
  65. Have you ever felt your supervisor or team leader was not providing enough support on a project?   How did you handle this situation?
  66. Can you give an example from your work experience that shows your analytical abilities?
  67. Can you tell me about a time when you used your judgment and logic to solve a problem at work?
  68. Describe a job situation in which it was very important for you to pay attention to detail?
  69. Give me an example of a difficult project that you were successful with.
  70. Tell me about a situation in which you had to a challenge in meeting a deadline, but were able to meet it successfully.

  72. Communication

    These questions are focused on finding out again what you reaction was to a situation while dealing with internal or external customers o your previous organization and what the outcome was.

  73. It is important to build good working relationships on the job, but sometimes this isn’t always possible.  Can you tell me about a situation in which you had to work with a difficult coworker?
  74. Can you describe a time when you had to be able to develop a working relationship quickly with someone?
  75. What are the most important factors in building successful business relationships?
  76. Describe a situation in which you had to deal with a complex workplace politics.
  77. Are you a “big picture” or a “detail” person. Can you give an example of this in your work experience?
  78. Can you describe a situation in which you were able to understand another person’s unspoken needs or problems in the workplace?
  79. Describe a situation in which you were able to use your communication skills to solve a problem.
  80. Tell me about a situation in which you did not communicate effectively.  What did you do to improve the situation?

  97. Decision Making

    These questions are aimed to finding out what you base your work decisions on and if you take logical efficient steps in order to reach a conclusion.

  98. Describe the steps you have taken to make an important decision at work.
  99. Can you give an example of a situation in which you made a decision which did not turn out well?
  100. Tell me about a time when you had to make a fast decision at work.
  101. Can you tell me about a time when you were not able to complete a task because you didn’t have all the information you needed to make a decision?
  102. How do you decide what strategy to use in dealing with a difficult customer or situation?
  103. How do you get the information you need in order to make a decision?
  104. Do you involve other people when you are making a decision that might effect them?
  105. Can you describe a time when you had to stand up for a decision you made, even though other people did not agree with that decision?
  106. What is the most difficult decision you have made in the past year?
  107. Leadership

    These questions are targeted at finding out what you would do specifically while mentoring or managing your work while you delegate tasks out to your peers or subordinates.

  108. Have you ever had trouble leading a project or team? How did you deal with this situation?
  109. How do you manage your team?
  110. How do you decide to delegate work amongst team members?
  111. Can you describe a situation in which you delegated tasks, but they were not done correctly?
  112. Can you give me an example of a time when you had to motivate your team during a very difficult period of time?
