In the past, a job interview is always a person-to-person encounter. With the many advancements in technology, many companies now resort to phone interviews, some even with camera. A phone interview is very practical, and a job applicant should be thankful for companies that conduct interview through telephones or computers phones. A phone interview saves you time and money, and also saves you the effort in dressing up.

A Phone Interview Is Still A Job Interview

Do not forget that a phone interview is still a job interview and you are still being assessed and evaluated by your interviewer. Aside from the fact that you are not face to face with your interviewer and you cannot shake hands at the end of the interview, the purpose and consequences of a phone interview are the same as a conventional person-to-person interview. So, prepare for a job interview the same way as you would for an interview that requires a personal appearance.

Practice Always Makes Perfect

Perhaps the disadvantage of a phone interview is that it may come anytime, and it can catch you when you are most unprepared. You may be having coffee with a friend or laughing your head off over a joke when your potential employer calls you. Some interview preparation advice would be to compose yourself quickly to be able to answer the questions properly. To simulate this, engage your friends and relatives to help you. Ask them to call you anytime of the day, even in the most ungodly hours, and instruct them to ask you questions, as if they were interviewing you. You can give them a set of questions to ask but they should add their own questions. This way, you will be able to practice how to regain your composure and get into the mood quickly for a phone interview.
